Rental Assistance
Brookings CORE Response is pleased to offer Long-Term Rental Assistance (LTRA) to community members struggling to afford their current rental housing. While on LTRA, clients are responsible for paying a subsidized portion of their rent (based on income and utility allowance).

Housing-Focused Case Management is a specialized support service designed to assist individuals and families in securing and maintaining stable housing. At its core, this approach revolves around providing personalized guidance and resources to help you overcome homelessness or housing instability. You are the expert in what will work for you and we are here to help you facilitate your housing goals. Here are the basic components:
- Housing Placement: We assist you in finding suitable housing options based on your preferences and needs, and we help with the application process.
- Financial Support: Our team helps you access financial resources, such as rental assistance and security deposits, and provides guidance on budgeting.
- Goal Setting: Together, we set achievable goals related to housing stability, employment, health, documentation, or credit improvement.
- Connection to Services: We connect you to essential services, like mental health counseling, substance abuse treatment, medical care, and employment assistance.
- Stabilization and Follow-Up: Our support continues after you’ve secured housing to ensure you maintain stability and address any challenges.
- Advocacy: We advocate for you in housing-related matters, such as landlord disputes or accommodations.
- Individualized Plans: We create a personalized service plan based on your unique circumstances and strengths.
- Empowerment and Skill-Building: Our aim is to empower you with life skills and resilience for long-term housing independence.
Rapid Rehousing
Our Rapid Rehousing (RRH) program leverages housing-focused case management to assist unhoused community members in achieving their housing and housing-related goals.

Transitional Shelter: Pineview Cottage
Pineview Cottage is a 5-bedroom, 3-bathroom transitional shelter in Brookings, providing a safe and supportive environment for women and children experiencing homelessness. The program offers stability for up to one year, helping residents work toward permanent housing and self-sufficiency.
As part of Brookings CORE Response’s trauma-informed, peer-led approach, Pineview Cottage offers individualized case management, peer support, and resource navigation to help families rebuild their lives. Residents agree to a behavior-based housing agreement focused on safety and community, ensuring a respectful and supportive living space.
